This training allows participants to acquire practical skills in scientific and medical writing through a series of workshops. The program offers hands-on training in writing and analyzing scientific texts. Participants benefit from an individual coaching to transform their drafts into articles that are ready for submission.

This program consists of series of workshops combined with an individual coaching to meet your needs on scientific and medical writing skills. The program is structured around the four key sections of an article (IMRD).
Workshop 1
– General introduction to research and scientific writing style
– Writing the introduction and the objective of study
o How to write the introduction and the objective of the study?
o Get feedback on the introduction written by participants / examples
o Exercise: participants will work to improve their own drafts
o Presentation of the improved introduction/ objective by 3 participants, followed by feedbacks from instructor and other participants
Workshop 2
– Writing the “Methods” section
o How to write the “methods” section?
o Get feedback on the methods section written by participants / examples
o Exercise: participants will work to improve their own drafts
o Presentation of the methods section by 3 participants, followed by feedbacks from instructor and other participants
Workshop 3
– Writing the “Results” section
o How to write the “Results” section?
o Get feedback on the results section / examples
o Exercise: participants will work to improve their own drafts
o Presentation of the results section by 3 participants, followed by feedbacks from instructor and other participants
Workshop 4
– Writing of the “Discussion” and “conclusions” sections
o How to write “discussion” and “conclusion” sections
o Get feedback on the discussion and conclusions section / examples
o Exercise: participants will work to improve their own drafts
o Presentation of the discussion and conclusions sections by the 3 participants, followed by feedbacks from instructor and other participants
Workshop 5
– Managing references
o Reference writing styles
o Workshop: Zotero software
– Authorship Ethics
o Authorship, who can be an author (role and position) and what is the responsibility of authors?
o Dealing with authorship conflicts
o Acknowledgments
o Plagiarism
Workshop 6
– How to choose the journal?
– How to write a cover letter?
– How to manage the reviewers? Responses to reviewers
Ø How to write title and abstract?
Individual written feedback on drafts of participants: At the end of the program, participants should send their final drafts and written feedback will be provided by the allocated mentor. Mentors commit to follow up the manuscripts until 3 months after the last workshop. If the mentors substantially contributed in the final version of the manuscript and if they comply with the authorship criteria, they may become co-authors in the manuscript.
